Complementary Products for Gas IR Systems

Marsden is proud to offer a variety of complementary products supplied directly or through key industry relationships designed to enhance the overall effectiveness and efficiency of our customers’ drying processes.

ELECTRIC IR SYSTEMS

Electric-powered IR systems provide fast and effective infrared drying solutions for coating applications. A major benefit of these IR dryers is the availability of continuous moisture profiling for on & off machine coaters as well as paper & board machines. These IR systems can be designed to operate as edge drying systems for leveling out the moisture differential on the back (drive side) and front-side (operator side) of paper machines to produce more saleable product.

As with the gas-fired version, electric IR systems feature field bus technology for easy integration and remote control from DCS/QCS systems as well as user-friendly operator interfaces based on standard PLC operator panels.

AIR DRYERS

Marsden’s decades of industry involvement in process heating has cultivated strong alliances with the world’s most experienced suppliers of air drying technologies. Non-contact convective air drying equipment provides uniform heat transfer and web support for a variety of industrial applications including:

  • Paper/Pulp
  • Converting
  • Metals
  • Non-Wovens
  • Food

Air dryers, air turns, and web coolers are used in conjunction with Marsden’s Infrared Drying Systems to optimize a drying strategy for each application that is the most effective, most efficient and most environmentally friendly. Marsden’s experienced application specialists working with its industry colleagues evaluate the needs of each customer’s unique drying goals to develop a drying solution that utilizes the strengths of all the available drying technologies. The result is a sole source drying solution that incorporates the best overall drying strategy that the industry has to offer.

HeatRecoverySystemsHEAT RECOVERY SYSTEMS

The hot exhaust gases from a gas-fired Marsden IR system are recycled through utilization of a make-up air damper control loop for automatic PID control. This allows the Marsden exhaust to be directed through the T-damper to an existing air dryer burner as heated make up air.

PLCHMI2PLC/HMI INTEGRATION

Both, the gas-fired and the electric IR systems feature field bus technology for easy integration and remote control from DCS/QCS systems as well as user-friendly operator interfaces based on standard PLC operator panels. In many instances Marsden has interfaced with our customers’ DCS/QCS via Ethernet, Controlnet, etc. Typically, Marsden supplies a remote rack of I/O, within the main control panel. This rack includes a power supply, all of the necessary I/O cards, along with a network bridge module (Ethernet, Controlnet, Devicenet, etc.).

Marsden also employs customer-preferred manufacturer’s control equipment to provide cleaner integration with the existing control system.

Customer seeking to deviate from a standard control set-up should advise as to what type of control system is favored.

Marsden supplies all customers with sample code and display screens so that each can program the system using their own resources, if so desired.
