MARSDEN EARNS PATENT ON COMBO AIR/IR DRYING SYSTEM

Pennsauken, NJ - Marsden, Inc., manufacturer of gas infrared drying systems for the pulp and paper industry, announced that it has been awarded a U.S. patent for its combination Air and IR drying system.

According to Thomas M. Smith, President of Marsden, "The new system, named AIR by Marsden, combines variable power density, embedded combustion infrared for rapid heat transfer with hot air bars for additional heat transfer, mass transfer and sheet stabilization."

AIR by Marsden contains a built-in stainless steel heat exchanger which recuperates energy from the IR exhaust gases to heat low humidity, filtered fresh air for the air bars.

"The combination system improves coated paper quality, increases production, reduces machine space, saves energy, and satisfies all known pollution restrictions by emitting zero NOx and zero CO", Smith states. "Optional cross direction moisture profile correction to 3 inch zones is also available."
